Transforming the imprints of racist policies

is essential work in creating an equitable environment for all to thrive.

Until we create a fair playing field for members in underserved communities to fully participate in the work, education and vitality of the city, Baltimore will continue to choke on the dire effects of its history of racist policies.

Real estate, transportation and banking policies have created hyper- isolation, have separated centers of work from working poor, and limited opportunities for success to certain segments of the population.

Greening strategies are linking systems to connect shrinking areas with the mainstream social and economic networks in the city, using new greening projects, protecting and expanding forest patches and creating more, safer and nicer bike routes to provide access to work, culture and recreation.

Replacing blighted sites with a mosaic of green spaces can create an enhanced environment to connect isolated areas and invigorate interest, growth and interaction across currently severed communities.
